NMDOT And Contractor Agree To Suspend Taos Road Project

NMDOT News:

TAOS — The New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) and El Terrero Construction, LLC, reached an agreement to suspend reconstruction work on U.S. 68/N.M. 64 for a two-week duration amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Suspension began Monday and will expire April 3. Work will begin again Monday, April 6.

This suspension is granted due to specification 107.20 that includes documented national unavailability of construction material and epidemic quarantine restriction. This is not intended for the contractor to restructure phasing.

The Inside Arts series of the Los Alamos Museum of Art will feature local photographer Ken Hanson in an interview that airs 8:30 p.m. today, 4 p.m. Tuesday and 8 p.m. Thursday on PAC 8.

Hanson is one of those talented Los Alamos National Laboratory physicists who also is a talented artist. Upon retiring from a career in image analysis, Hanson began a second career in image analysis of a different kind: photography. SANTA FE — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Santa Fe National Forest has announced that all planned prescribed burns have been postponed until further notice. 

Potential smoke impacts to the public are always considered in prescribed fire and wildfire management.

The decision to postpone ignitions will:

  • prevent any effects from smoke that might further endanger at-risk members of our communities; and
  • reduce exposure for Forest Service employees, cooperators and other resources
