Cincinnati – Today, the Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Environmental Management (EM) awarded the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Management and Operating (M&O) Contract to Tularosa Basin Range Services, LLC (TBRS) of in Reston, Va.

TBRS is a single purpose entity comprised of Bechtel National, Inc. TBRS will utilize Los Alamos Technical Associates, Inc. (LATA) as a Small Business Teaming Subcontractor.

ROSWELL — After a 100-year flood event resulted in the collapse of a Roswell bridge last month, Gov. Kirtland Air Force Base Hosts Open House July 21

The Air Force will be hosting an Open House for the Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) Bulk Fuels Facility project 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 21 in Albuquerque.

This open house will be held at the KAFB Groundwater Treatment System facility, just inside the Ridgecrest Drive Gate near Bullhead Park.

Native Fish Restoration In Middle Ponil Creek July 11-17

COLFAX COUNTY — The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (NMDGF) will be conducting a native fish restoration project in Middle Ponil Creek within the Valle Vidal unit of the Carson National Forest July 11-17.

This project will remove non-native, hybrid fish to create suitable habitat for stocking native Rio Grande cutthroat trout rescued from the Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire. 

Public access to the project area will be restricted during the project period. This will include a 300-foot buffer around Middle Ponil Creek from the headwaters to the FR 1910 road crossing. Read More

2022 Forest Stewards Youth Corps Kicks Off In Glorieta

SANTA FE — The Forest Stewards Guild’s (FSG) Forest Stewards Youth Corps (FSYC) summer program recently kicked off with a successful three-day training at Glorieta Adventure Camps in Glorieta.

Twenty-four summer crew members and trainers, ages 15-26, attended this training, where they gained knowledge on ecology, natural history, and natural resource management, as well as participated in a mile long trail improvement project with Glorieta staff.
