COUNTY News:

Water crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are working on an emergency water main repair on Quemazon Place today and have traffic controls in place.

The work zone, which runs along Quemazon Place between Tranquilo and Sereno, is closed to through traffic for the duration of the repair and cleanup. Drivers are asked to exercise caution near the work zone.

DPU crews expect the whole Quemazon subdivision to lose water pressure.

Water will be turned off for houses in and closest to the work zone at some point during the repair work. They believe the leak is due to corrosion on the underground piping system.

The work crew will be reduced for a short period around noon.

Crews anticipate completing the repair this afternoon but work to repair water damage to the road may take multiple days.

DPU staff is working with Los Alamos County Roads and Streets Division personnel to determine a plan for that work.
