YMCA News:

Each year in December, Santa and teenage elves from the Española Teen Center pay a gift-giving visit to the children of the Pajarito Housing Community in Española.

The elves deliver stockings stuffed with “warm” gifts, gifts that warm a body to the nearly 100 youngsters in the community.

Española Teen Center Director Ben Sandoval works with the housing authority to ensure each child gets an appropriately sized gift, either a hat, scarf, gloves, socks and cocoa, candy canes and/or a cup of soup.

Santa is putting a call out to other elves for donations of new children’s size gloves or mittens, socks, scarves, hats and gifts of soup and/or cocoa.

Donations will be accepted at The Family YMCA through Dec. 2 and then delivered to the Española YMCA Teen Center for sorting with deliver to the community in mid December.

 The Center also prepares a Thanksgiving meal in late November for Teen Center members and is seeking donations of three turkeys.

Items needed:

  • Three Turkeys;
  • 100 children’s gloves, socks, scarves and hats; and
  • Soup, cocoa and candy canes.

To donate, call the Center at 505.747.6569.
