Electric Pole Safety Inspections Underway

DPU News:

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is conducting its scheduled electric pole safety audit with the help of contractor, Osmose, Inc.

“The good condition of each electric pole in the local distribution network is essential to improving reliability and preventing failures,” said Deputy Utilities Manager for Electric Distribution Rafael del La Torre.

The DPU’s contractor, Osmose, Inc., can be seen beginning the week of Sept. 23 in the Barranca Mesa neighborhood of Los Alamos. Inspection work will continue for the next six weeks or so as the team works their way through the town site and then White Rock.

Several of the network’s electric poles are on utility easements located in residential back yards. Contractors will wear plainly visible identification badges. The inspection work is slated for completion the first week of November.

More information about the electric distribution network can be found at: http://www.losalamosnm.us/ utilities/Pages/Electricity.aspx  or by visiting www.facebook.com/dpu1968, or by sending a request to DPU @ lacnm.us.

The Department of Public Utilities (DPU) operates the county-owned electric, gas, water & wastewater systems under the jurisdiction of the Board of Public Utilities. The Board meets the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. and the public is always welcome. The DPU is funded by rates paid for electric, gas, water and wastewater services and auxiliary fees, and has provided the community with these services for more than 40 years.
