Thank you very much to the people of Los Alamos, and the very energetic League of Women Voters for the opportunity to participate in your voter forum laast Thursday.
Many excellent questions were raised, especially about the environment and the quality of our regional groundwater. Water is a passion of mine.

GOP Elects Delegates to Quadrennial Convention
The Los Alamos County GOP held its Quadrennial County Convention Thursday evening at the Los Alamos VFW.
The purpose of the County Quadrennial Convention was to elect delegates to the Republican Party of New Mexico Quadrennial Convention to be held June 9 in Albuquerque.
The State Convention will elect delegates to the National GOP Convention in Tampa, Fla.

Public Invited to Meet State Senator Monday
County News:
Sen. Richard Martinez is holding an informal meet and greet session with the public at about 10:30 a.m., Monday at the Coffee Booth in Mari-Mac Shopping Center.
Los Alamos County Council Chair Sharon Stover and Councilor David Izraelevitz are stopping by the restaurant to visit with Martinez as well.
Martinez is a Democrat representing Los Alamos, Rio Arriba and Santa Fe counties in the state legislature. He is running for re-election.

Early Voting Begins Saturday!

Voting early begins from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at both the Los Alamos Community Building, 475 20th St. and the White Rock Fire Station #3, 129 N.M.4.
Early voting will continue at both locations 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the following Tuesday, May 22 through Saturday, May 26 and Tuesday, May 29 through Saturday, June 2.
Also, Election Day has never been easier with Voting Convenience Centers (VCC) that will scattered throughout Los Alamos County.
VCC’s are Election Day polling locations available to any registered voter of Los Alamos County regardless of their designated precinct. Read More
Republicans Running for County Offices to Speak at Kiwanis Today
The Republicans running for Los Alamos County offices in the June 5 Primary Election will be speaking today (May 15) at the Kiwanis lunch meeting.
The meeting begins at noon and is held at the Masonic Lodge on Sage, near the intersection of 15th Street and Canyon Drive.

League of Women Voter’s Forum is Thursday
On June 5, New Mexico will hold its 2012 Primary Election. Although many offices will appear on the ballot, only five offices have contested primary races.
In order to inform the electorate about these contests, the League of Women Voters of Los Alamos will host a forum on May 17 at UNM-Los Alamos in the Lecture Hall in Building 2 to introduce the community to the candidates:
6:30 p.m. – refreshments served / meet the candidates
7 p.m. – forum begins
All 12 candidates have accepted the League’s invitation.
The candidates include:

Los Alamos GOP County Quadrennial Convention Set for May 17
GOP News:
Call is hereby made for the 2012 Quadrennial Los Alamos Republican Convention on Thursday, May 2012, at the Los Alamos VFW, 1793 Deacon St., and for a Los Alamos Central Committee meeting to be held at 7 p.m., immediately preceding the Convention.
Registration begins at 6:30 p.m. and doors close promptly at 7 p.m.
