The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office performed the certification and preparation process Wednesday for the Absentee & Election Day Voting Machines to be used in the Nov. 8 General Election.

Wednesday’s testing passed with a perfect match between the test votes cast and the test results. Additionally, every voting machine underwent functional testing. Functional testing ensures the proper operation of the buttons, connections and other components of the voting machines, such as the audio-visual ballot marking interface.

“Testing is absolutely fundamental in the preparation of any election, andprovides an added level of confidence in the accuracy of the election results,” County Clerk Sharon Stover said.

With the certification preparation process complete, the ICE voting machines are ready for deployment to the three (3) Vote Centers, which are: Los Alamos County Municipal Building – Council Chambers, Los Alamos CountyGolf Course Community Building – Multi-Purpose Room, and the White Rock Library – Multi-Purpose Room.

Stover would like to remind everyone that Voter Registration will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11. Residents who are not registered, or have moved, must complete and submit a new voter registration form to the County Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in order to vote in the Nov. 8 General Election.

Absentee Voting – In Person (Early Voting) begins Tuesday, Oct. 11 in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave. Voters who prefer a ballot be mailed, need to complete an absentee application, which can be downloaded on the Clerk’s webpage, or by calling the Clerk’s Office and requesting an application be mailed.
