A big part of Natural Helpers is providing support to peers but another important part is playing an active role in our school community.

This year’s Natural Helpers decided that the entrance of our school could be improved and decided to make it their big school project for the year.

Sign up is underway for the 2015 8th grade Washington, D.C. spring break trip. This is a private trip and not sponsored by Los Alamos Public Schools. 

Many thousands of Los Alamos Middle School students have participated and tremendously enjoyed this fabulous educational trip.

School Board Unanimously Approves Budget

The month-long budget process came to a close when the Los Alamos School Board voted to accept the District’s budget at its May 22 meeting in the District Administration Building Conference Room. The board vote was unanimous. Board Vice-President Kevin Honnell was absent.

The districts revenue sources include approximately $26,248,000 from the State of New Mexico, $8 million from DOE and $3 million in lease income.

Los Alamos High School teacher Lynn Ovaska and her students hope to raise funds through coffee sales to take LAHS teacher Joy Handsberry on the class trip to Europe to celebrate her end of chemotherapy.

The coffee comes in French Roast, Dark Roast, Medium Roast, and Decaf, whole or ground, for $12 for a 10-ounce package. The label was created by LAHS student Caroline Schramm. and checks can be made payable to "Europe 2014." 


UNM-LA Tech Frontiers 2014 Application Deadline Extended

The application deadline for Tech Frontiers 2014, the joint venture between the University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), has been extended to June 9.

Tech Frontiers 2014 will offer two, one-week sessions providing participants the opportunity to learn about careers in environmental science or about projects that involve both engineering and science. Students will earn one hour of college credit for each session they attend.
