PAC 8 and the Los Alamos Teen Center have teamed up again to offer a free video production class for students in 6th-12 grades. The class will create a PSA on drug awareness. Students will learn script writing, videography, editing, lighting and audio. The class runs 1-4 p.m. March 25-29, (spring break) and is free. Class size is limited to 6 students.

LAHS Basketball Hosts District Quarterfinal Games Tonight
LAPS News:
Los Alamos High School (LAHS) will host the 2-4A Boys District Tournament Quarterfinal game tonight in Griffith Gymnasium.
The Toppers will take on the Moriarty Pintos. The gates open at 5 p.m. and the game will start at 6 p.m.
For the district tournament, there will be no cash sales and all sales are through GoFan. Passes will not be accepted for any post season game.

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Higher Education Department announced Monday that 6,270 New Mexicans have received forgiveness of their federal student loans via President Biden’s SAVE loan forgiveness plan and fixes to the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Plan (PSLF).
This amounts to $267.1 million in debt discharged statewide as a result of the Biden Administration’s action. The federal government also forgave the loans of 5,410 New Mexico borrowers last year due to fixes to the longstanding PSLF Plan, totaling $260.2 million. Los Alamos Middle School (LAMS) will be celebrating Pi Day (3/14) this year with a little help from Pirates of the Caribbean and a lot of help from the community.
Pi Day (3/14) is a highlight on the middle school calendar. Traditionally, the LAMS PTO with the middle school staff hosts a daylong event for students surrounding the concept of π. The goal of Pi Day is to promote math literacy and the concept of Pi in a fun, hands-on learning environment.

There will be a meeting for this year’s 8th grade students who are attending the annual spring break trip to Washington, D.C.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 1, after school in the Los Alamos Middle School library (the MC). There will be an additional meeting at 3 p.m. March 22. Parents are encouraged to attend both meetings.
It is not too late to sign up for this year’s trip but time is running out!

Los Alamos Public Schools (LAPS) encourages students and families to join in celebrating the LAPS transportation staff on National School Bus Driver Appreciation Day Thursday, Feb. 22.
