Little Forest Fall Fiesta Sept. 6
LFP News:
Little Forest Playschool’ annual Fall Fiesta and Silent Auction is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sept. 6. The Fall Fiesta is one of three events held each year to raise funds for Little Forest, which has been part of the Los Alamos community for more than 60 years.
The Fall Fiesta is held on the two-acre playground area at Little Forest Playschool, 3880 Villa St.
Fall Fiesta festivities include a carnival with activities, animals, games, music and food.

LAMS Students Landcape School Through Keep New Mexico Beautiful Grant
Keep New Mexico Beautiful has granted Los Alamos Middle School with several opportunities to enhance education and landscaping for the new school year.
The first grant project involves adding plants around the school exterior and conducting a campus clean up prior to the start of school.

Kiwanis Presents Sholarship to Jing Xie
The Los Alamos Kiwanis Club recently presented Jing Xie with a scholarship. From left, Xiaohong Shen, mom; Michelle Xie, sister; Jing Xie and Kiwanis President Karen Kendall. Xie was recognized as an enthusiastic community volunteer since she arrived in Los Alamos in 2006. She volunteered at the Mesa Public Library in her elementary school years. During her high school career, Xie volunteered in Teen Court for three years serving as an attorney and member of the Jury. She also has served as a Youth Leader for Cafe Scientifique and sent birthday cards to members at the Betty Ehart Center. Read More

Scott Beguin will teach classes on drivetrain function and first aid fixes, 2 p.m. Aug. 17 and 6 p.m. Aug. 20.

‘NOT Back-to-School’ Breakfast Aug. 14

For many years, retired Los Alamos Public Schools employees have looked forward to the famous NOT Back-to-School breakfast.
It is held annually on the first day that students and teachers go back to school. Retirees from all over the USA make a special effort to attend the event to share memories and talk with friends.
