On Saturday night, the Reel Deal Theater presented a free screening of the grassroots film Education is Hope. The film was produced locally and filmed in Kenya by Will O’Donnell and Dylan Westfall. The documentary film highlights the efforts of the International Peace Initiatives (IPI) to provide opportunities for children to attend school. Holger Waschinski of Pac8 edited the movie.

‘Autumn in Provence’ Tops $5,000 for Kiwanis Scholarships
Kiwanian First Vice President/Event Chair Karen Kendall welcomes nearly 100 people to Saturday night’s “Autumn in Provence” wine dinner fundraiser at the Dixie Girl Restaurant in downtown Los Alamos. The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos hosted the event, which raised $5,700, including $1,000 scholarship donation by Kurt Steinhaus on behalf of LANS, LLC and Director Charlie McMillan of Los Alamos National Laboratory. Volunteers needed for VCNP Fish Study
Los Amigos de Valles Caldera News:
A study of the movements of trout in the Valles Caldera National Preserve will be conducted from about 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 23 and 24.
Dave Menicucci of the University of New Mexico is conducting the study as principal investigator.
Colleen Caldwell of New Mexico State University is an expert on fisheries and co-principal investigator and technical advisor on the project.
