Friends Of Los Alamos County Libraries Presents Scholarships To LAHS Seniors

Four Los Alamos High School seniors have been awarded $2,500 scholarships by the Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries, scholarship chairman Maire O’Neill announced Wednesday.

The scholarship recipients include Astrid Hengartner, Madeleine LeScouarnec, Kimberly Pestovich and Sarah Wallstrom. Senior Sopahn Kellogg, was selected to receive the June Ettinger Memorial Scholarship.

Scott will be offering a tour of waterfalls through PEEC on Saturday, May 16 for a small group limited to 10 people. LAMS Students Raise Funds For Teacher Medical Costs

Students at Los Alamos Middle School continue to raise money to help with medical costs for teachers Ryan Finn and Sherri Bublitz as they battle medical ailments.

Mills grew up in Chicago and in Brookhaven, N.Y. with her parents and two sisters. She came to Los Alamos with her husband Geoff, and two sons from Geneva (CERN) in 1992.

Choir Director Jason Rutledge and his 85 Los Alamos Middle School and Los Alamos High School students traveled to Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho April 17-18 to compete in the State Championships.

Three choirs performed or competed including; the LAMS Hawk Choir, LAHS Encore and LAHS Schola Cantorum, now 5A State Champions.

“I am so very proud of this group of students,” Rutledge said. “Countless hours went into preparation this semester. These students really went the extra mile required to have great success.”

Maria Gibson Receives LAGC College Scholarship

Los Alamos High School senior Maria Gibson is the 2015 recipient of the Los Alamos Garden Club (LAGC) college scholarship.
 
The award will be presented to her at the May 27 Honors Convocation.
