Los Alamos cat, Ebenezer, has big ambitions. He is hoping to be named America’s Favorite Pet!
The America’s Favorite Pet Competition supports animal rehabilitation and recovery for our furry friends in need.
This competition partners with the non-profit PAWS, which actively rehabilitates orphaned and injured wildlife, shelters and adopts homeless cats and dogs, and provides education and outreach within the community to promote compassionate action for animals.
America’s Favorite Pet has funded the rescue and rehabilitation of more than 2,400 cats and dogs to date, and helped PAWS expand their wildlife rehab. Learn more about PAWS by visiting paws.org.
Ebenezer and his mom, Sarah Stangl, moved to Los Alamos after she received an appointment at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Ebenezer had a rough start as a street cat, but after being adopted by Stangl, life was good. Then March 3, 2021, Ebenezer was attacked by a dog while out walking with Stangl on his leash.
Ebenezer was seriously injured and spent 10 days in the ICU. He still suffers from his injuries and can’t jump or move around easily.
That doesn’t keep Ebenezer down though … he works hard as her Emotional Support Animal in spite of his injuries, Stangl said, adding that is why he is perfect to be chosen as America’s Favorite Pet.
“Have you seen these beautiful green eyes and round, fluffy cheeks!, she asked. “He is absolutely stunning and a cuddle bug. He is spoiled rotten and living his best life. He is so friendly and cuddly that he steals the hearts of all he meets!”
Everyone is invited to say hi to Sarah and Ebenezer as they stroll around Ashley Pond and be sure to support this awesome member of our community be voting for him here.
