Easter Schedule For Museums And Historic Sites

SANTA FE  The New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs announces that Jemez historic sites and four museums will be open Easter Sunday, while other properties will be closed.
 
The Los Luceros Historic Site will host an Easter egg hunt today, April 20.
 
Saturday of Easter weekend, Los Luceros Historic site is open 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Families are invited to bring their own picnic to enjoy on the grounds. Attendees must bring their own food, blankets, seating and trash bags. There is an Easter egg hunt with a touch of history for children 5-12 years old. Bring your own baskets to collect eggs.
 
At 2:15 p.m. today there is a gathering in the courtyard for the children with a question and answer period and prizes giveaway. Children will be challenged to gather all five historic facts to be eligible for prizes. A grand prize will be given to the child (two age groups 5-8 and 9-12) who is able to remember the most historic facts.
 
Easter Sunday 7-10 a.m., Jemez Historic Site will host an all faiths sunrise service with the Jemez Valley Baptist Church, Jemez Mountain Baptist Church, Jemez Springs Community Presbyterian Church, and Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church participating.
 
After the service, take in the picturesque ruins and scenic vistas. Enjoy a sense of place. Jemez Historic Site is closed for the remainder of the day.
