Drug Policy Action Endorses Lujan Grisham For Governor And Howie Morales For Lt. Governor

NMFM News:

Monday, Michelle Lujan Grisham was endorsed for governor of New Mexico by Drug Policy Action, a 501(c)(4) organization advocating for drug policy reforms and attitudes that best reduce the harms of both drug use and drug prohibition. Drug Policy Action is also endorsing Howie Morales for lt. governor.

Statement from Emily Kaltenbach, New Mexico state director at Drug Policy Action:

“New Mexico needs a governor like Michelle Lujan Grisham. She understands that drug laws and policies should be grounded in science, compassion, health and human rights. Drug Policy Action is endorsing for many reasons. Michelle Lujan Grisham has been an ardent supporter of the medical cannabis program from helping implement the program while she was Secretary of Health to supporting congressional legislation to allow veterans access to medical cannabis. Lujan Grisham also has a solid plan to address our state’s decades long opioid overdose crisis. And, she is supporting the legalization of marijuana for the right reasons.

“Her opponent, Steve Pearce has stated he opposes legalization of marijuana and has as track record at a federal level voting against an amendment that would allow Veteran Affairs doctors to inform their patients about lifesaving access to state medical cannabis programs.”
