DPU News:

Each year, the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) adopts a Christmas family through the Alpha Zeta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. Beta Sigma Phi is an international women’s service organization. The Utilities’ 95 employees donate more than $500 each year.

DPU’s adopted family this year is a mother and three children selected by Beta Sigma Phi and unknown to DPU. Joann Gentry and Lisa Romero coordinate collecting money and purchasing gifts that meet the adopted family’s specific wish list. Andrew Alarid, Naomi Maestas, Julie Williams-Hill, Lisa Romero, Joann Gentry, Tracey Alarid, Jaime Kephart and Maxine Montoya wrapped the presents.

Due to the generosity of the Utilities employees, we are blessed to provide not only the gifts but also a $200 Smith’s gift card to the family. DPU’s employees also were able to donate $45 to the Interfaith Homeless Shelter in Santa Fe and $50 for a Christmas family adopted by another County department.

Every year, DPU takes pride in providing gifts to a family in need. The gifts under the tree remind everyone at DPU of the joy of giving.
