DPNM News:Acting Chair of the Democratic Party of New Mexico Neomi Martinez Parra issued the following joint statement Tuesday on Equal Pay Day – a day that represents how far into the year women have to work to earn as much as their male counterparts made the previous year:
“As Democrats, we stand by the principle of equal pay for equal work. We’re proud of Democrats in Congress for moving us closer to realizing true equality through the Lily Ledbetter Act and local lawmakers for putting equal pay protections in state statute, but there’s still more work to be done.
“It’s long past time we make sure that women are guaranteed the same pay as men for doing the same work. The Democratic Party of New Mexico stands in solidarity with women in the workplace, and are proud to fight for a level playing field.”
