Learn about printing history and the Press at the Palace of the Governors with former and current curators at the New Mexico History Museum.

Join the History Museum during Palace Avenue First Friday Art Walk from 5–7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 7, with a free panel discussion from 5:30–6:30 p.m., featuring the former and current Palace Press curators Pamela Smith, Tom Leech, and Keri Schroeder. Longtime New Mexico journalist Kate Nelson will moderate the discussion about literary arts in New Mexico, and the history of the Palace Press. All three speakers will share their time working at the Press, as well as their own experiences as book artists and printers. The event is free and visitors are encouraged to arrive early to see the exhibition “Printed at the Palace” inside the Palace of the Governors.

Visitors can learn more about the Press at the Palace of the Governors, the oldest, and longest-running letterpress operation of its kind in the state, from the curators dedicated to sharing book and print art with visitors since 1971.
