Diabetes Support Group Will Discuss Eye Care

Eye care is especially important for people with diabetes. People with diabetes are at an increased risk of developing eye complications from the disease. In fact, diabetes is the leading cause of blindness in adults age 20 to 74.

Learn what precautions you can take to help reduce your risk of developing eye problems. Dr. Angela R. Bratton from Eye Associates will be the featured speaker at the monthly Diabetes Support Group meeting. The group meets at 5:30-7 p.m. Monday, June 10 in the Nambe Room at Fuller Lodge. The group meets the second Monday of each month.

It is open to anyone who has diabetes, including family, friends and any others in a supporting role. Group coordinators are Mary Beugelsdijk, certified educator and Paula Roybal Sánchez, Extension home economist.

The Diabetes Support Group is sponsored by the Los Alamos Cooperative Extension Service and offers people with diabetes a venue to learn more about diabetes, or reinforce what they already know.
