The Toppers Varsity played a 32-minute game without once taking the lead over the Santa Fe Demons Tuesday night at Griffith Gymnasium in Los Alamos.
Unfortunately, the Toppers couldn’t get the edge in their game and suffered a 13-point loss to Santa Fe. During the game the Toppers showed hustle and spirit but couldn’t get their shots off. Their fitness looked at its peak throughout the game and they never quit, but missed opportunities were their down fall as well as a high scoring Demons team.
The girls are still struggling with their communication but can hopefully get some more wins on their record for this season. After this game, they are now 1-5 but are looking for a win in their next game on Tuesday against Hope Christian.
The JV team however had an easy victory past Santa Fe High School in their game. The LAHS JV girls showed attitude in the first half and battled for every inch to sustain a lead. After the half, the Toppers found the key to unlock the Demons locked up defense. They went in with a full court press and pummeled the Demons by scoring a whopping 36 points in the last two quarters of the game, happy with a 64-41 victory.
“Rebound and Rebound and basket” commented Morris Pongratz about the sum up of Becca Green’s performance. She helped put points on the board as well as kept the ball in Topper hands and earned herself a double-double.
