2016 Honoree Karyl Ann Armbruster
The Democratic Party of Los Alamos will hold its 5th Annual JFK Dinner 5:30-8 p.m., Sunday, June 5 at the Betty Ehart Senior Center. The event is catered by the Blue Window Bistro.
This year’s honoree is Karyl Ann Armbruster. Armbruster is many things: a long-time Los Alamos Public Schools educator, union leader, super-volunteer, loyal friend and current Public Education Commissioner. Join us as we honor her and celebrate all she has done for our community and for the Democratic Party.
Keynote Speaker Brian Egolf
This year’s keynote speaker for the JFK Dinner is New Mexico House Democratic Leader Brian Egolf. Democratic Party candidates and elected officials, including U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján, also will attend.
U.S. Rep. Ben Ray Luján
In 1962, President John F, Kennedy became the first sitting U.S. President to visit Los Alamos. He traveled to Los Alamos on the 21st anniversary of America’s entry into World War II to commemorate the memory of those who fought and to acknowledge the role Los Alamos plays in global security.
The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County JFK Dinner is an annual tradition started in 2012. Each year we hold our JFK Dinner to celebrate President Kennedy’s birthday (May 29, 1917) and to honor a member of the Democratic Party who has made a significant impact on our local community.
Past JFK Dinner Honorees:
- 2012 Bun Ryan
- 2013 Nancy Bartlit
- 2014 Kyle & Mike Wheeler
- 2015 Senator Jeff Bingaman
The event gets bigger (and more fun) each year. This year we will have a cash bar and silent auction in addition to dinner and our program.
Deadline to purchase tickets is Saturday, May 28 … tickets are $80 each … buy your tickets now.
