POLITICAL News:

The Democratic Party of Los Alamos County Central Committee has unanimously appointed Antonio Maggiore to fill a vacancy in this year’s County Council race.

Maggiore’s name will now be placed on the ballot for the Nov. 8 General Election. He replaces Kristin Henderson who withdrew her candidacy Friday to spend more time with family.

The County Central Committee met at 7 p.m. today in the Democratic Party Campaign Headquarters at 170 Central Park Square to decide who to appoint. Registered Democrats within Los Alamos County were invited to put their name forward for consideration.

Maggiore ran in the 2016 Primary Election for a seat on Council and lost by just 34 votes. He has strong support from fellow Democrats and was the only potential candidate to come forward for consideration, Chair Robyn Schultz said.

Editor’s note: Read more about Maggiore and his platform in Thursday’s print edition of the Los Alamos Daily Post.
