Del Norte Credit Union Strives to Enhance Life in Northern New Mexico

DNCU News:

Del Norte Credit Union (DNCU) prides itself on being a community leader through its member events as well as its support of worthy causes that strive to enhance life in Northern New Mexico and beyond. At times the credit union creates an opportunity where these objectives dovetail perfectly, such as with the just launched Think Pink eStatement Campaign—offering a $1 donation to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer (American Cancer Society) for each member who opts for eStatements in lieu of paper statements.

“It’s a win-win proposition. DNCU eliminates unnecessary paper usage and postage, while offering members a time-saving convenience. Simultaneously, we support a pivotal organization in the fight to end breast cancer,” says DNCU CEO/President Chuck Valenti. “As an added bonus, our members are empowered in regards to a health issue that has touched many of their own families.” The Think Pink campaign runs Aug. 15 through Oct. 1.

Other member-based events include Shred Days (members safely shred sensitive materials at no charge), Financial Workshops, and the ever-popular Pictures with Santa. DNCU funds textbooks for Northern New Mexico schools as well as an annual scholarship program for post high school education. DNCU fosters partnerships with admirable nonprofits such as the American Heart Association, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northern New Mexico, the Food Depot, Santa Fe Bandstand, Pancakes on the Plaza, National Dance Institute, United Way of Santa Fe County, and Zozobra. DNCU understands that the role of a credit union is to not only be a trusted source of unbiased financial advice but to also proactively support the community and people that are the foundation of the credit union itself.

DNCU has served Northern New Mexico since 1954 and this year celebrates its 60th anniversary. Originally founded by Los Alamos Scientific Lab employees, DNCU has grown from 54 members to more than 40,000 and spans the entire state. DNCU’s vision is to create a 5-star member experience and improve the lives of others through advocacy, appreciation, and Del Norteño pride.
