COUNTY News:

Former Los Alamos County Airport Manager David Ploeger has accepted an offer from the County to return as airport manager.

He served as Los Alamos County Airport manager prior to Peter Soderquist, who retired earlier this month. Under Ploeger’s leadership, the airport was named New Mexico Airport of the Year in 2005.  He left the County in 2009 after being appointed by Gov. Bill Richardson to serve as Aviation Division Director for the New Mexico Department of Transportation.

Before coming to New Mexico, Ploeger served as the manager at the Dinwiddie County Airport in Petersburg, Va., from 1997-2005. Ploeger also served in the United States Navy as a commanding officer in Pensacola, Fla., an air officer on the U.S.S. George Washington from 1992-1994, and as the division director of the chief of naval operations staff in Washington, D.C. from 1994-1997. Ploeger received a bachelor of arts from Saint Vincent College.

Ploeger will be on the job at the Los Alamos County Airport beginning Monday.
