Daily Postcard: Handsome Male American Redstart Spotted At Los Alamos Reservoir

Daily Postcard: A handsome male American Redstart spotted Friday morning at the Los Alamos Reservoir. There is also a female there, and both were seen Friday carrying food around, which is a strong indication of nesting. This species typically nests at least 600 miles away in eastern Texas north to the Dakotas and northwest in Wyoming. From there they breed far to the northern forests of North America. This is only the second time this species has been known to breed in New Mexico. Photo by Michael Smith
