Daily Postcard: A graceful osprey soars across the sky in front of a forested hillside Saturday in Valles Caldera National Preserve. The community is invited to join a ranger Sunday,  Dec. 1 for a winter birding adventure at Valles Caldera. Arrive at 8 a.m. at the main gate on N.M. 4, and from there, participants will caravan to the starting location. Bring a small snack and drinking water, and wear comfortable clothes that are weather-appropriate. Either cross-country skis or snowshoes are strongly recommended for current conditions. Trail difficulty will range from easy to moderate, during this 1-2 hour winter birding adventure. Bring binoculars or some are available to rent. No registration required. Photo by Cristina Ortega
