County’s Public Meeting On Bond Projects Draws Crowd

Parks, Recreation and Open Space Division Manager Chris Wilson, foruth from right, discusses proposed projects for the 2017 bond election during the County’s Public Meeting Wednesday evening at Fuller Lodge. The proposed installation of eight tennis courts at Urban Park surfaced as a contentious topic. Several local residents were quite vocal in their opposition. One lifetime resident, born, raised and still living in that area said the park was historical … the Bombers used to play there and putting in eight tennis courts is akin to razing historic Fuller Lodge and putting the courts there. Area business owner Cathy Mockler was adament in her opposition to it. Many said Los Alamos High School needs to find a site to put the courts somewhere on school property for its student tennis team. Photo by Jim O’Donnell/ladailypost.com
