- The county has finally reached the drop-dead point with regard to the redo of N.M. 502 from Knecht to Tewa Loop.
- The hastily generated design created by PW (Public Works) in January was done without serious critiquing, endorsed by the Transportation Board under questionable circumstances, and approved quickly by the Council as it “needed to rush this through urgently to insure funding,” even as some of us indicated that it would not meet LOS.

State and Federal Officials Reject N.M. 502 Plans
The New Mexico Department of Transportation, (NMDOT), and the Federal Highway Administration, (FHWA), in a letter dated Nov 30, have rejected the Los Alamos County’s proposed alternative for the N.M. 502 Improvement Project (see link to letter below.)
This means that the project will not receive the $3.8 million in funding that the NMDOT and FHWA have programmed for Fiscal Year 2014 unless new plans are drawn up that are acceptable to NMDOT and FHWA.

Seizing literally a split-second opportunity, Los Alamos police officers were able to tase a suicidal man, lunge across the room and snatch his gun away before he could kill himself.
For reasons unknown, Isaiah Cisneros, 26, of Los Alamos threatened to shoot himself on Nov. 24. A woman in his home on 35th Street alerted police.
Cpl. Eric Wilhoit and Ofc. Oliver McCartney responded to the residence and Sgt. Jeremy Duran arrived shortly thereafter.
