Los Alamos County’s Brush and Bulk Item Collection begins today.
The following schedule was prepared to reduce the amount of time items sit at the curb. The County asks residents to please be courteous to their neighbors and not set out materials sooner than two days before the first day of their scheduled collection date. Direct questions to the Eco Station at 505.662.8163.

The Los Alamos County Library Board is set to meet at 5:30 p.m., Monday at Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave.
A presentation by Anthony Strain is scheduled regarding the White Rock Branch Library Project as well as a presentation by Steve Foltyn regarding potential art at the new library. The board will discuss the FY16 Library Board Work Plan and potential projects and work activities for the year.

Before I even dragged myself out of bed on New Year’s morning, I heard the snowplow go by on my street.
I have also heard that the dedicated County workers who provided this valuable service were advised to restrict their previous night New Year’s Eve celebrations in order to be prepared for the call that would come so early.

Evee is a 3-year-old spayed female cat surrendered for adoption when her home experienced some hard times.
She is good with adults and quiet older children. Evee pretty much ignores the other shelter cats. She dislikes loud noises. Evee might need some time to warm up to new people, but at the shelter, she is already enjoying gentle pets from volunteers. No dogs, please!

Design is nearing completion on the new Los Alamos Teen Center in the Community Building at 20th Street and Central Avenue.

A motion was made at the Dec. 9 Los Alamos County Council meeting by Councilor Rick Reiss and seconded by Council Vice Chair Kristin Henderson, that Council adopt the 2015 State Legislative Agenda.
The motion passed unanamously by all seven councilors.

The White Rock Branch Library is a full service branch that opened in 1985 in a 1,400 square foot storefront building. The library moved to its current location at 133 Longview Dr. in 1987. In 1996, the building was remodeled adding additional square footage for an approximate total of 4,000 square feet. In 2007 the library was renovated.

Los Alamos County Responds To News Story About New Mexico Airlines Under FAA Investigation

Los Alamos County officials commented on a news story circulating on KOAT Channel 7 this morning regarding New Mexico Airlines.
“Operation of the airline – including the number of planes that are flying – is a decision that is made by officials of New Mexico Airlines,” said Los Alamos County Airport Manager David Ploeger.
