Tyler is a very sweet 3-year-old Chihuahua mix surrendered to the shelter after being replaced with a newborn.
 
Anyone looking for a lap dog also full of fun and sweet energy, Tyler is the guy. He is cuddly, loving and playful, and enjoys the company of people and small dogshe particularly loves the company of Chihuahua mixes Pete and Stevie Nicks residing at the shelter.
 
Tyler loves snuggling and giving kisses and can’t wait to give that love to his new family.

Former New Mexico Airlines President Gabriel Kimbrell Charged With Grand Theft And Scheme To Defraud

Police in Miami have arrested former New Mexico Airlines President Gabriel Kimbrell and charged him with grand theft and organized scheme to defraud.

According to court documents, Kimbrell used his corporate credit card, which belonged to the airline’s parent company Pacific Wings, to make $22,791 in fraudulent purchases between January 2014 and January 2015.

Los Alamos County severed ties with New Mexico Airlines in January. New Mexico Airlines began canceling flights last November,

The Red Elvises return to Ashley Pond at 7 p.m. today for a free concert.

Opening the show around 6:30 p.m. will be the fabulous Los Alamos marching band, the Hillstompers. The Hillstompers will also play when the Red Elvises take a break. The Red Elvises is Los Alamos’ favorite band. You disagree? C’mon out and check out this great party band as they play Russian surf-rock, Russian and Eastern European folk rock, Russian and Santa Monica “rokenroll.”

Neither arrests nor charges indicate a conviction, and neither means that a person is guilty of the charges filed against them.

July 23 at 4:05 p.m. / A 14-year-old Los Alamos girl reported being the victim of sexual contact by force on Trinity Drive. The matter is under investigation.

If you’d like a way to keep track of all the items you want to read, view, or listen to; or all you might want to give as holiday gifts, for example, try the My Lists feature of the new catalog. 

Creating a List:

  • Log in to the catalog
  • Go to My Lists (right next to My Account on the top right of the page)
  • Click on the notebook icon with the + sign
  • Write the list’s name in the box and click Create.

Adding items to a list:

  • Log in to the catalog
  • Find the item(s) you want

Remodeled WR Youth Activity Center Opens Monday

COMMUNITY News:

The newly remodeled White Rock Youth Activity Center next to the new White Rock Branch Library on Sherwood Boulevard is opening Monday, Aug. 24.

The move from the center’s temporary location at 139 Longview Dr. will occur Saturday, Aug. 22.

The newly remodeled center is open to kids in grades 3 through 8. Hours of operation are 3-6 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays; and noon-6 p.m. Wednesdays. The White Rock Youth Activity Center telephone number is 505.672.1565.

Trinity Drive Westbound Lane Closed Aug. 20-21

COUNTY News:

Crews from Star Paving Construction will be pouring concrete beginning this morning at the corner of 20th Street and Trinity Drive.

The west-bound right lane of Trinity Drive will be closed from 17th Street to 20th Street beginning at 10 a.m. today through 5 p.m. Friday. Pedestrians may experience a sidewalk closure and detour. 

All work should be completed by Friday, Aug. 21, weather permitting.

LAPD Provides Tips For Parents To Help Ensure Children’s Safety To And From School

LAPD News:

Earlier this week three elementary students in Los Alamos were reported missing after school. All were located and united with their parents.

The Los Alamos Police Department is encouraging parents to ensure their children’s safety to and from school.

LAPD recommends that if their children are using the Atomic City Buses for school transportation, that the parents ride with their children on the bus for a couple of days to ensure the kids know where to get on and off the buses and which buses to transfer to. 

This is very important for new time riders to the Atomic City Bus system,

County Opens Community Art Center Survey

COUNTY News:

Residents are invited to complete a brief survey to share their thoughts about what they believe are important characteristics for a community art center.

The survey is available on the County’s Open Forum page at http://www.losalamosnm.us/gov/Pages/PublicCommentForum.aspx#peak_democracy, or available in printed format in the west vestibule of the Municipal Building.

In addition, staff from the Community Services Department will be available to hand out and collect surveys during the next Farmers’ Market 8:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20.

20th Street And Trinity Drive Parking Lot Reopens

COUNTY News:

The 20th Street and Trinity Drive parking lot is now open.

The reconstruction of the parking lot was completed as part of the Los Alamos Teen Center remodel of the Community Building on 20th Street. Work in the parking lot included full depth reconstruction of the parking lot as well as a new layout.

Vehicular access to/from the new parking lot is at 20th Street. The United Stated Post Office mailboxes and UPS drop box temporarily relocated to Deacon Street during construction are back at the center of the 20th/Trinity parking lot.

The Los Alamos County thanks the public for its patience
