Los Alamos Public Libraries and NMSU Extension Urban Horticulture Specialist Marisa Thomson present Climate Ready Trees: Planting Smarter for a Warmer (and Shadier) Future, 7 p.m. Thursday July 15. Register for this live-streamed program on the library event calendar.

Thomson will draw on climate change research and the Nature Conservancy’s Climate Ready Tree Project to share how you can select and plant trees that will survive and thrive now and continue to thrive in 50 years in a warmer climate.

Learn about the City of Albuquerque’s goal to plant 100,000 trees in the next 10 years, creating a healthy urban forest to benefit their economy, ecology and way of life.

For more information, see the Nature Conservancy’s “Climate-Ready Trees: Tree Species  Selection Guidelines for the Albuquerque Metro Area” report.
