County Updates Information On COVID-19 Vaccines

COUNTY News:

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the approval of boosters for eligible individuals for all three vaccines available in the U.S., including Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

Moreover, those eligible individuals may mix and match the vaccine booster of their choice.

Kids Ages 5 to 11 

The Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for children ages 5 to 11 years. New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) has set up instructions at https://vaccinenm.org/kids for parents to register dependent children for the vaccine. Parents will be able to schedule appointments and download consent forms.

Vaccine Locations in Los Alamos 

COVID-19 vaccines and boosters continue to be “highly effective in reducing risk of severe disease, hospitalization, and death, even against the current Delta variant,” according to the New Mexico Department of Health website.

The vaccine is free and conveniently available at various locations throughout Los Alamos: 

Los Alamos Public Health Office: 1183 Diamond Dr. The Public Health Office has halted COVID testing functions and is now administering the Pfizer vaccine. 

Medical Associates of Northern New Mexico: 3917 West Road, #A (administering Moderna) 

Nambe Drugs: 111 Central Park Square (administering Moderna) 

Smith’s Pharmacy: 751 Trinity Dr. and 31 Sherwood Blvd. in White Rock. (Administering Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer and Moderna) 

Los Alamos Fire Department: Will administer the Moderna vaccine for homebound Individuals. These appointments are coordinated through the County Social Services Office by calling 505.662.8068. 

Trinity Urgent Care, in cooperation with Los Alamos County – Clinics are scheduled for: 

  • Nov. 14, times TBD at Los Alamos High School Auxiliary Gym
    1300 Diamond Dr. (administering Moderna) 
  • Dec. 12, times TBD at Los Alamos High School Auxiliary Gym
    1300 Diamond Dr. (administering Pfizer)
