County Snow Update: Changes To Wednesday Services

COUNTY Snow Update:

In light of today’s heavy snowfall event, the Public Works Department has announced the following change in services for Wednesday, Jan. 2:

Atomic City Transit: No fixed route service. Dial-a-ride will be available. Call 661-RIDE.

Trash/Recycling: Those residents in Los Alamos who did not receive pick up today (due to the holiday) who had been informed their pick up day would be Wednesday Jan. 2: Pick up tomorrow (Wednesday) is canceled for Western Area and Quemazon. No new pick up date has been set yet.

Please do not set out carts as this causes hazards for snow clearing activities because curbs are blocked by snow.

White Rock Pajarito Acres Wednesday trash/pick up: Currently being assessed by staff and MAY be possible Wednesday but check with the Eco Station or local media for another update.

Other County facility openings Wednesday: Still being assessed. Parking lots may need to be cleared and continue to be a lower priority while the storm continues. Watch for updates from local news media, check the main County Facebook page, or call the facility before traveling there Wednesday. Some facilities may have delayed openings or continue to be closed, due to snow removal operations.

The Traffic Division continues to ask for the community to be patient. Even if the storm exits overnight, clean up and mop up activities will be significant for road crews as they work to remove large quantities of snow from various staging areas and clear streets. Continue to avoid travel on roads if not necessary or urgent through Wednesday.
