COUNTY News:

Traffic & Streets Division crews have completed the installation of the Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFB) on Diamond Drive at the Golf Course Crosswalk.

The RRFBs are push button activated amber LEDs that supplement the warning signs at the crosswalk. They use an irregular flash pattern that is similar to emergency flashers on police vehicles. This flash pattern has shown to elicit a greater response from drivers than traditional flashers.

Push button stations have been placed on both sides of Diamond Drive and an additional push button has also been placed in the center median. Activating any of the three push buttons will turn on all the flashers and warn approaching drivers that there is potential activity in the crosswalk.

Parents of children attending Aspen and Mountain Elementary Schools who may be crossing Diamond Drive are encouraged to take their children to the crossing and demonstrate the operation of the RRFB to them.
