Los Alamos County offices are closed Thursday and Friday in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Several County officials expressed their Thanksgiving wishes for the community.

The Thanksgiving holiday is a time to reflect on the blessings our lives bring. Among those blessings for me is being a member of this wonderful community in Los Alamos,” County Council Chair David Izraelevitz said. It is a safe, welcoming community, where education and healthy living is valued, where generous neighbors help each other, and where we are surrounded by beautiful mountains and canyons that inspire us to do more and be more. This has been a strong year of positive movement in our community, with new housing developments and businesses coming to town that show that we are a community on the move. I hope that everyone will have the opportunity to celebrate this holiday in the company of family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!

County Manager Harry Burgess

“I would like to wish everyone in our community a happy Thanksgiving holiday,” County Manager Harry Burgess said. “For those who may be traveling for the holiday weekend, safe travels. For those staying in Los Alamos or hosting company, I hope everyone is planning to come downtown and participate in Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25 to support our local businesses and keep our tax dollars working for us here in Los Alamos.”

Chief of Police Dino Sgambellone

“It is the goal of the police department that our residents and visitors are able to safely enjoy Thanksgiving, but we need your help! Please do not drink and drive!” Chief of Police Dino Sgambellone said. “Many of our folks will be working throughout this season spending time away from their families to keep the community safe. Please remember them in your thoughts as well.”

Fire Chief Troy Hughes

I hope everyone is safe and gets to spend time with family and friends, Fire Chief Troy Hughes said. Thanksgiving is a holiday where we should all count our blessings and be thankful for all that we have been given. We should demonstrate our gratefulness by sharing our good fortune with others in need.
