No Holiday Trash Collection…
In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, there will be No trash or recycling collection Thursday, Nov. 22 or Friday, Nov. 23. If either of those days is your normal trash day, place materials out by 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 instead.

It’s a Warm Water Weekend Satuday and Sunday, Nov. 24 and 25…
Join us on this coming holiday weekend for a fun time in the main pool as we raise the temperature to 84-85 degrees. The Inflatable Obstacle Course is also set up for everyone to enjoy.

Don’t forget, the Aquatic Center will close early at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21 for the Thanksgiving holiday, and reopen Saturday, Nov. 24 warmed up and ready to go.

Council Meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27 in Council Chambers

Eastern Area Construction Project Phase 2 – Informational Meeting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 in Council Chambers…

The scope of this project consists of utility, pavement reconstruction, and concrete work including curb, gutter, and sidewalks on the following streets: 15th Street, Central Avenue to Canyon Road; Canyon Road, 15th Street to Nugget; Arroyo Lane and Verde Ridge. The project is in the preliminary design stage with construction planned for the 2013 construction season. Attend this meeting to find out more.



Bandelier Shuttle Service Ending for the Season…

Saturday, Nov. 17 will be the last day the Bandelier Shuttle Service will operate this season. After Nov. 17, private vehicles will be allowed to drive into the park until the shuttle begins operations next spring, tentatively set for March 1, 2013. Find out more by clicking here


Los Alamos Canyon bridge work begins Nov. 17

Beginning Saturday Nov. 17 and 18 and Dec. 1 and 2), a damaged expansion joint on the south end of the Los Alamos Canyon Bridge is being replaced. Los Alamos National Laboratory plans to do the work on weekends when vehicle traffic is reduced.

One lane of the bridge will be closed in each direction and there may be brief periods when traffic is stopped while material is being moved, said Vince Sing of Project Management. Signs and other traffic control measures will be in place to alert motorists to the work.

In an on-going effort to gather community input, an online survey is now available until Nov. 25, for those citizens who were unable to participate in either the most recent telephone or in-person surveys. The survey takes just a few minutes to fill out.

Ashley Pond Park Improvements Project Progress to 90 percent…
An informational meeting to show the public the 90 percent Final Design Plans for Ashley Pond Park renovations was held Wednesday, Nov. 14 at Fuller Lodge. Parks Manager, Dick McIntyre, and the consultant, Sites Southwest LLC represented by Georg Radnovich, presented the design progress plans for upcoming construction. The meeting was attended by approximately 25 people of whom a large majority was impressed and supportive of the overall design plan. O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree!

Christmas tree sales and cutting to begin Monday, Nov. 19 –  Santa Fe National Forest offices and various vendors in Los Alamos, Santa Fe, Pecos, and Las Vegas will begin selling personal-use Christmas tree permits for $10 beginning Monday, Nov. 19 through Dec. 24. Visit the Los Alamos Historical Museum to pick up your permit locally:
