COUNTY News:
County Council Special Session set for Thursday
There won’t be a regular County Council session Tuesday evening; however, the County Council does plan to meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6. The only item on the agenda will be to fill the existing councilor vacancy.
The County received seven letters of interest by the Aug. 28 deadline. The candidates must be at the meeting and be ready for an interview with the Council, which is expected to make a decision that evening.

In addition, County administration offices are closed Monday, and Atomic City Transit plus the regional “blue buses” aren’t in service on the holiday. The Aquatic Center remains closed for maintenance activities – it will re-open Tuesday.

Bandelier Seeks Public Comment on Transportation Plan/Environmental Assessment
You probably know that Atomic City Transit has been assisting in transporting visitors to/from White Rock to Bandelier this summer, after the 2011 Las Conchas Fire and subsequent flooding damaged the monument’s parking lots.
The ACT contract with Bandelier ends in three years, so Bandelier is beginning to work on a long-range transportation plan for the park, which includes an environmental assessment.
What do you think they should do in the long term? Should ACT continue to provide shuttle services? Bandelier will hold two public meetings in September to solicit feedback.
