County Issues Latest Updates On COVID-19 Pandemic

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is issuing at least weekly updates to keep the community informed about County services, facilities and other information on the COVID-19 public health emergency that it is asked to share with residents by the New Mexico Department of Health.

NMDOH COVID-19 Screening At Overlook In White Rock Thursday

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) will hold a COVID-19 screening 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or while supplies last Thursday, April 2 at Overlook Park in White Rock. Priority testing will be provided for the following:

  • People experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 infection: fever, cough, or shortness of breath; and
  • People who have traveled from Europe (to include Italy), China, Iran, South Korea, Japan, Seattle, New York City, San Francisco and Portland.

It is critical to know before attending these screenings that those without symptoms of COVID-19 infection do not need testing for COVID-19. The community is in allergy season, and having allergy symptoms such as sneezing, and itchy eyes, nose or throat is not an indication for testing. Please try to limit two people per vehicle to avoid unnecessary risk for viral spread.

No insurance is required for screening. …read the NM DOH press release on the COVID-19 webpage…

To contact the County…

The County customer service windows are closed and there is limited face to face transactions in facilities such as the Municipal Building – all in response to the COVID-19 pandemic to keep everyone safe and do its part to slow down the spread of the virus. County staff are operating with a “skeleton crew” in most areas – please be patient as some transactions may require an appointment or take slightly longer than it would during normal operations.

Don’t travel to County facilities without first phoning the department to inquire about its current level of services, restrictions on visits, and any other information and limit questions and transactions to urgent matters.

The County will continue to issue these weekly summary updates Friday afternoons until further notice, specifically related to COVID-19 updates from the County or items the New Mexico Department of Health has asked the County to help share out to the community through its channels.
