After Ashley Pond Park re-opened last year, the County recognized the danger to the public on the boardwalks during inclement weather and installed temporary gates when bad weather was anticipated, in order to limit public access.
To resolve this issue, the plan was to fabricate railings to be installed this year that would provide safety, but yet allow the public to enjoy the boardwalks freely. Parks crews are completing railing fabrication now and expect to have the railings installed by mid-December.
The railings will be removed in the spring.
