County Granted Presidential Disaster Declaration

Wearing his hat as Los Alamos County Emergency Management coordinator as opposed to acting police chief, Philmont Taylor announced at tonight’s County Council meeting that Los Alamos has been granted a Presidential Disaster Declaration for last month’s flood damage. A Presidential Disaster Declaration is an action by the President, pursuant to the Compact of Free Association, to make U.S. federal funding available for emergency relief and reconstruction assistance. Taylor explained that the County will now begin the process. Photo by Carol A. Clark/ladailypost.com
