County Announces April Budget Hearings And Format

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County has published its proposed biennial budget. Information has been included based on current spending, revenue forecasts and Council direction.

Citizens are encouraged to access the document on the Finance Office/Budget page of the County’s website here.

Reference copies will be available in the Municipal Building lobby by 5 p.m. March 31.

A “Citizen’s Guide to the Budget” summarizes the budget in an easy-to-read format and is available here.

Copies of the Citizen’s Guide will be available in the public literature rack in the west vestibule of the Municipal Building by 5 p.m. March 31.

Budget hearings are set for April 19, 20, 26 and 27. All hearings begin at 6 p.m. on Zoom. Public comment will be accepted using the Zoom panelist and “raise hand” function while in attendance online.

Members of the public interested in watching the budget hearings can view the agenda and live stream the meeting from home using this link and accessing the hearings for the respective dates listed above.

The hearings also will be broadcast live on cable television on PAC-8, the local community station.

Until the Council adopts the budget, it is still open for discussion and change. Scheduled budget hearings may be cancelled if the budget is adopted at an earlier hearing.

Council will reserve the first 30 minutes of each hearing for public comment on any portion of the proposed budget. Once all comments have been provided, or, after this time has expired, budget presentations and discussions will continue.

Citizens unable to attend the budget hearings using Zoom can still comment in a variety of ways:
