Council Tentatively Oks Public Works Proposed Budget

COUNTY News;

Council voted 6-1, with Councilor David Reagor opposed, to tentatively approve the $55,914,480 budget along with several budget options. These options include: 

  • $150,000 for asset management software to help facilitate better maintenance of County infrastructure along with $60,000 for the software’s annual cost. 
  • $170,000 for one FTE for a capital projects manager. 
  • $500,000 for the design of a new transit center, which would include a study, design and location of new transit center as well as analyze the projected impact of a new transit center in downtown Los Alamos. 
  • $130,000 for 2 FTEs for custodians and equipment to help address past and future increases in space and focus on floor maintenance. 
  • $150,000 1 FTE Sustainability coordinator 
  • $40,000 funding for community outreach and education, which was a recommendation from the Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy & Sustainability Task Force 
  • $35,000 for an electric car for the third project manager in engineering. 
  • $376,087 for chip and seal for the Wastewater Treatment Plant from NM502

To be discussed later is the budget option totaling $100,000 for 1 FTE for an equipment operator that is needed for right-of-way maintenance associated with the glyphosate ban.
