Los Alamos County Community Development Department Director Paul Andrus discusses what the duties would be for the proposed Business Assistance Coordinator during tonight’s FY23 Budget Hearing. The Business Assistance Coordinator position was one of several proposed budget options placed on the ‘parking lot’ during last week’s Budget Hearings for further discussion this week. The Business Assistance Coordinator position was approved 7-0. Council also tentatively approved 5-2 a budget for two additional FTEs positions for the police department. Councilors David Izraelevitz and Sara Scott were opposed. Another budget option, an electric car for the police patrol fleet, was not voted on due to an absence of council’s support for it. The budget options for funding for an equipment operator for right of way maintenance and permaculture weed barrier associated with the glyphosate ban were tentatively approved 6-1 with Izraelevitz opposed. Council Chair Randall Ryti requested further discussion on the budget option for sustainability program but no vote was taken to amend the budget option. Screenshot/LADP
