Los Alamos County Council unanimously voted to tentatively approve the approximately $17.8 million budget for the Los Alamos County Manager’s Office Monday night during the budget hearing.
Additionally, they tentatively approved several budget add-ons:
- $744,777 in the general fund and $423,710 from various funds outside the general fund for the County employee salary plan maintenance
- $542,000 for economic development programs
- $190,400 for a Total Compensation Market Study
- $8,147 for tuition reimbursement
- $615,000 for Progress through Partnering
- $10,500 for public relations’ operations
- $225,800 for phase one implementation of the Wayfinding Plan
- $500,000 for land purchase
County Manager Harry Burgess highlighted several points within his office’s budget:
- Continue Progress Through Partnering funding to improve intergovernmental relations in the region Franchisee training to increase the number of Los Alamos citizens that may open a business in the County
- FY19 Lodgers Tax projects 8 percent increase over FY18, and an additional 6 percent for FY20
- Redesign of visitor website –Lodgers’ Tax Fund14
- Update Visitor Centers with more interactive and experiential displays –Lodgers’ Tax Fund
- Employee turnover increased during FY19, anticipating that proposed budget will allow for a reduction of this statistic
- Establish wellness program to enhance employees’ health while promoting a mechanism to reduce overall costs to both employees and County
