Councilor Mike Wismer moved, seconded by Councilor Vincent Chiravalle, that Council select public access and use option 3A or 3B for the Valles Caldera National Preserve and direct County Administrator Harry Burgess to convey the Council’s motion in a letter to the Executive Director of the Valles Caldera National Preserve by or before the end of the public comment period 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14 as part of the public participation process for the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS.) The motion passed 5–0 with Council Vice Chair Geoff Rodgers recusing himself to alleviate any hint of a conflict of interest since his wife works at Bandelier.
