Council Recognizes Los Alamos Co+op Market As 2015 Business Recycler Of The Year

The County Council this evening recognized the Los Alamos Co+op Market as the 2015 Los Alamos County Business Recycler of the Year.

Public Works Director Philo Shelton Environmental Services Manager Angelica Gurule presented the award to Los Alamos Co+op Board President Tracy McFarland.     .

Los Alamos County Environmental Services received five nominations for the third annual Business Recycler of the Year Award:

  • Dr. Mac:
  • Animal Clinic of Los Alamos;
  • Los Alamos National Security;
  • Jemez House Thrift Shop; and
  • Los Alamos Co+op Market.

The voting process was conducted via an online survey; 53.66 percent of the votes were in favor of Los Alamos Co+op Market as the 2015 Los Alamos County Business Recycler of the Year.

The Business Recycler of the Year award is sponsored by the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division and the Los Alamos County Environmental Sustainability Board.

The Business Recycler of the Year Award is a great avenue to promote recycling in the business community and get more businesses participating in the program.

To become eligible, a business is nominated by a member of the community for contributing to recycling and waste reduction. The nominations are presented to the Environmental Sustainability Board. The Board requests more detailed information from the nominated businesses regarding their sustainability and recycling efforts. Once all information is received the voting process begins and is open to the general public.
