Council Members Conduct Annual Jail Inspection

Los Alamos County Councilors, from left, Antonio Maggiore, Rick Reiss and Chris Chandler chat with Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone and Detention Center Administrator Hilario ‘Eli’ Salinas following their inspection of the Detention Center, which included speaking with a couple of randomly selected inmates. Under New Mexico law, the governing body of a county has to conduct an annual detention center site visit to inspect the overall conditions at the facility. Following the visit, an inspection report has to be presented at regular meeting of the governing body. Photo by Maire O’Neill/ladailypost.com
