Council Approves $365,248 to Aid Struggling Commercial Air Service Program

Airport Manager Peter Soderquist presented to Council this evening a commercial air service update and asked for a budget revision of $365,248 to the contract with the County to fund the commercial air service program, which includes $100,000 for associated marketing. Soderquist told Council that during the eight months it has been in service, ridership ‘has dwindled from 600 and something to 200 and something.’ During public comment, David Carroll said, ‘There is a very easy solution to this and that is to get LANL involved.’ Discussion ensued on how to get the Lab to embrace to commuter service because without it – the program cannot succeed. Council approved the budget revision 6-1 with Councilor David Izraelevitz voting no. PrintScreen photo
