STAFF REPORT
As part of its unanamous approval of Tuesday night’s consent agenda, the Los Alamos County Council appointed three local residents to the Planning & Zoning Commission including:
- Central Park Square owner Philip Kunsberg;
- Realtor Amy Wood (Parvin); and
- Small business owner/Los Alamos National Laboratory employee Jaret McDonald.
Council appointed Kunsberg and Woods to fill the two vacant positions for partial terms, which began April 1, 2013 and will end March 31, 2016 and McDonald to a full term beginning April 01, 2015 and ending March 31, 2018. The vacancies were created by the resignations of Commissioners Mary McInerny and Deborah Gill whose terms would have both ended March 31, 2016. The upcoming vacancy will represent an expired term for Anne Nobile, ending March 31, 2015. Nobile has served two full terms in succession and is not eligible for re-appointment.
The new commissioners join Laurence B Warner, Michael Redondo, Ashley Mamula, Catherine Mockler, Philip Gursky and Fred Brueggeman April 1 to comprise the nine member commission.
The purpose of the Planning & Zoning Commission is to make advisory recommendations to the County Council regarding planning and zoning for the County. Meetings for this board are at 5:30 p.m., the second and fourth Wednesday of each month in Council, Chambers at the Municipal Building. The staff liaison is Gary Leikness, Adrienne Lovato provides administrative support and Councilor Steven Girrens is the council liaison.
