COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Council has announced the shortlist of candidates for the County Manager position.
- The finalists chosen from a pool of highly qualified applicants are:
- Gretchen Cassini, Transportation Surtax Administrator for Broward County in Florida;
- Tracey Jerome, Senior Deputy City Manager for the City of El Paso, Texas; and
- Anne Laurent, Deputy County Manager for Los Alamos County, New Mexico.
To ensure a thorough selection process, the candidates will undergo interviews with three panels. The first panel will include representatives from the community, the second panel will consist of county senior managers, and the third panel will be comprised of the County Council. This multi-panel interview process aims to provide a well-rounded assessment of each candidate’s qualifications, skills, and compatibility with the needs and aspirations of the County and its residents. Those interviews are planned for Dec. 8, 2023.
As part of the community engagement process, the finalists will meet with the public at a meet-and-greet at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 2023 (location to be determined). This public interaction is an opportunity for residents to learn more about the candidates in a casual setting and, equally important, for the candidates to learn about the community and its citizens.
The search for a new County Manager began in September after the current County Manager, Steven Lynne, announced his plans to retire in March 2024 after dedicating 28 years of service to the community.
The new County Manager will play a pivotal role in leading the community through a new phase of development and growth. Additional housing and other improved services continue to be essential to Council’s strategic goals as Los Alamos County continues to support an expanding work force and community.
